Craig Whitehead : Flugel Horn
Craig was originally a cornet player, studying under the late, great Bert
Wexford, as well as Murdo McLoud and Simon Rammins.
Having switched onto flugel horn he has developed a style and sound all his own, described by some as
Mark Walters meets an angle grinder.
He works for Leonard Cooper steel erectors and is the only man in Pennine
Brass to talk to if you require a steel erection.
He previously played with Holme Silver Band, with whom he played at many notable venues, including
Dobcross Bandclub and Meltham Masonic Lodge.
When not at band rehearsals or practising his flugel, Craig enjoys reading poetry and baking.
His greatest musical passion outside brass bands is jazz and he reads many and varied jazz magazines and has a growing collection of
jazz DVD's.
His future ambitions are for world peace, Pennine Brass to win the European
and Dan Grimes to raise an optimistic smile.
